    Unauthorized Fingerprint Access

Youtuber Matt OnYourScreen has made-up a pretty creepy way to bypass all of the security on an LG V10 and possibly gain untold access to the device in the future. Any LG V10 running Nova Launcher is accessible to this attack, and all it takes is about 30 seconds of approach to the device.

To be fair, the outlook have to be pretty splendid to be able to pull off this trick on a V10. Here’s the breakdown of how it entirely, but bear in mind we are in no way everything the malicious use of this workaround. Rather, we need to make it clear how surely this vulnerability can be abused and exhibit the steps basis to protect your device from using.

Say someone lends you they starting for a minute or two. Maybe they display off some cool app, maybe you’ve asked to make a call… either way, all you need is a few point in which you have entry to the V10’s screen and they aren’t paying attention.

If this person isn’t functioning Nova Launcher, the game’s up here. This vulnerability is only known to work on this precise launcher so far, so if your quarry is operating Google Now then they are safe from your nasty intent. However, if they are running Nova Launcher, you can tap the Home button while on the prime home screen, then tap the Widgets option. Add a Nova Action gizmo to the home screen, and then elect the activity “com.lge.fingerprintsettings.”

Pause here for a second, So this is where the exposure exists. Through the normal Settings menu, it’s impossible to entry this precise activity before going over a security checkpoint and uphold either a fingerprint or PIN.

The widget on the home screen will now head directly to fingerprint settings, and you can add your own identity before deleting the gizmo, leaving little trace of your actions. Unless the additional fingerprint is recorded and deleted by the primary user, you will have absolute access to the gear from here on out.

There is, however, a very snap fix to prevent this feat from working. The LG V10 only supports four fingerprint profiles. Any shot to add a fifth profile will fail. Therefore, if you want to preserve this device from this vulnerability, all you have to do is search for four fingerprints to fill up as a list.
